Dwayne is an attractive 13-year-old with a beautiful smile and a likeable personality. As is typical for his age, he enjoys art, playing board games, bumper pool, and computer games. He likes being active and prefers activities that take him outside such as skateboarding, biking, baseball and basketball. He plans to try out for his school’s sports teams next school year. Being a highly motivated individual, he pressures himself to do well, and he is very free-hearted and social.

Dwayne has made great improvements in his ability to interact with peers and control his behaviors. With a desire to please others, he is able to get himself back on track when angry. In school, he is a 7th grade student with an Individualized Education Plan to assist with learning and help manage his behaviors. He requires help in reading and math, enjoys learning, and puts forth strong effort. Dwayne is normal in his activity level and impulse control ability.

An adoptive family for Dwayne will need experience and understanding in parenting children who have experienced separation, loss, and lived in foster care. They will need to provide devotion, advocacy, and ensure that his educational and emotional needs are met. Dwayne longs to have the commitment and stability offered in a permanent family that will also allow him to continue contact with his older sister.
